How to Stay Healthy and Vibrant Through Seasonal Transition

As fall approaches, we begin to notice the subtle changes around us. The weather shifts, the sun sets earlier, and the leaves on the trees begin to darken. As time passes, we’re reminded of how much we are constantly evolving and changing.

Whether we are comfortable with change or not, it is something we cannot control. What we can control is how we prepare ourselves for the seasons ahead and how we care for our bodies along the way.

There’s a popular story that seasonal depression began with someone who was experiencing a severe vitamin D deficiency. I’m not sure how accurate that story really is, lol, but the connection between sunlight, vitamin D, mood, and our overall well-being is certainly worth talking about.

This is the time of year when the days become shorter and we naturally experience less sunlight. Sunlight is one of our most important natural resources. It helps our bodies produce vitamin D and plays an important role in regulating our circadian rhythm, mood, and overall sense of well-being.

Vitamin D3 and K2 are two important nutrients that work together in the body and support overall health. Vitamin D is also involved in brain function and mood regulation, while vitamin K2 plays an important role in calcium metabolism and cardiovascular and bone health. Supporting adequate nutrient levels may be especially important during seasons when we get less sunlight.

This time of year can also bring changes in our immune health, which is why I like to be intentional about staying consistent with herbs, minerals, nutrients, nourishing foods, rest, and other wellness practices that support the body.

Vitamin C, vitamin D, and zinc all play important roles in supporting normal immune function. Vitamin C acts as an antioxidant and helps protect cells from oxidative stress. Zinc supports the development and function of immune cells, while vitamin D plays an important role in immune regulation.

Creating a consistent self-care routine can be a simple way to support your body as the seasons change. For me, that means being intentional about what I put into my body and making wellness a daily practice rather than something I only think about when I’m feeling under the weather.

And one of my favorite ways to kick off my seasonal wellness routine?
